Easter Irony

My cat just killed a baby bunny. Looked exactly like this, maybe 5 inches long, cutest thing I have ever seen. On Easter freakin' sunday!!!

I heard this squeaking sound outside, and half-joking said to my brother, I hope Xai-Xai isn't killing something. Then opened the door to look outside and she's running up the stairs to show off her prey. All I saw was something hanging out of her mouth, and I quickly shut the door and screamed, thinking it was a rat. Then I open back up to go out and do damage control, and this pathetic little adorable ball of fluff is squirming there on my porch! Help! We called the emergency animal center to see what to do, but it died while I was on the phone, Matt was sitting with it trying to see where it was injured. Sigh. I don't think I can look at my cat the same way....I wonder if she's making some sort of religious statement. She's never hurt anything more than a lizard and maybe one mouse, yet she kills a BABY BUNNY on Easter Sunday, which is still kinda freaking me out.

Sigh. This is turning into a horribly weird Easter weekend.

I remember when I saw my mom's sweet, adorable dog Joey KILL a possum in the backyard. Definitely changes how you view them. Joey is no longer sweet and adorable... ok, yes she is, but she's also a lean mean possum-killing machine.

Maybe the bunny just smelled extra nice b/c of all the chocolate eggs? I mean, I can't blame a cat for going after that... ; )
